The 2017 Buick LaCrosse has earned a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Buick Lacrosse has been redesigned and received ‘good’ ratings in five crash scenarios. According to, “Maximum intrusion of four inches was measured at the footrest in the demanding small-overlap impact, while the airbags and seatbelt ‘worked reasonably well together’ to minimize potential injuries.”

When it comes to safety, the Buick LaCrosse is second to none as it has continuously received excellent ratings in crash tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has rated Buick LaCrosse five stars among frontal, side, and rollover crashes for 2017 and since 2007.

According to, General Motors’ front-crash prevention system received a ‘superior’ judgement, completely avoiding a collision at 12 mph and lowering the impact speed to an average of just one mph when approaching an obstacle at 25 mph.”

The only category in which the revamped LaCrosse needs improvement on, is its headlights. This has led them to be excluded from the Top Safety Pick Plus club, due to the newest, additional qualification criteria put in place this year, which requires cars to earn a ‘good’ headlight test rating.

The IIHS report notes that “On the straightaway, [lowbeam] visibility was inadequate on both sides of the road” and “on curves, visibility was good on the sharp right curve, fair on the gradual right curve and inadequate on both left curves.”

Fortunately, the LaCrosse could eventually reach Top Safety Pick+ status if General Motors introduces improved headlights. This would of course benefit LaCrosse drivers as well.

So, if you’re looking for a safe car that is more on the luxurious side, consider the 2017 Buick LaCrosse. There’s no better comfort while driving than knowing your safety is a priority.
